Irish National Standard development
One of the main missions of FSC Ireland is to develop a national forest management standard in Ireland based upon the principles and criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Because participants may have widely divergent points of view, FSC Ireland uses ground rules.
FSC Ireland is a membership-based organisation. Participation by all interested people is very welcome. Members join just to support the objectives. Members may also serve on the Steering Committee, support development of the national standard, or help promote the concept of responsible forest management and FSC certification nationally.
The standard will be developed by the Standard Development Group assisted by technical resource people. A draft will be tested in the forest by experienced auditors.
Any interested person is welcome to join the Consultative Forum to make formal submissions during periods of public consultation on drafts of the standard.
