Why support FSC?

FSC brings people together in a stakeholder-owned system to find solutions which promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests. FSC is internationally recognised and is the standard used by many companies and retailers in respect of demonstrating their commitment to sourcing products from responsibly managed forests.

There are other forest certification systems. What’s special about FSC?

There are a few certification systems operating in Europe, but FSC is unique in that:

• FSC is global
• FSC gives equal weight to environmental, social, and economic interests
• FSC audits and controls its certification agencies
• FSC focuses particular interest on emerging issues, such as plantations and pesticides

All these factors have led FSC to be the only forest certification system that is supported by all major environmental groups.
