Why Choose FSC instead of other forest certification labels?

The multitude of labels claiming to offer sustainable and responsible products can be confusing. The FSC label makes it easy to make the right choice when buying timber or paper products.

Choosing FSC makes a difference because only FSC:

  • protects natural forests from being converted to plantations
  • prohibits the use of highly hazardous pesticides around the world
  • prohibits the cultivation of genetically modified trees (GMOs)
  • respects the right of indigenous peoples around the world
  • controls each certified operation at least once a year and withdraws certification if they are found not to comply

FSC Certification is internationally recognised as the most rigorous environmental and social standard for responsible forest management. Its unique strength lies with the involvement of stakeholders from social, environmental and economic interests.

All of this is why FSC is the only forest certification system that is supported by all major environmental groups.

The range of products bearing the FSC logo grows every day and an ever increasing number of corporations are choosing a procurement policy that specifies FSC products for their paper, packaging, and furnishing requirements. To find FSC products, visit the FSC Certificate Search
