Certifying bodies working in Irelandvisiting ash plantation

There are three kinds of certification in FSC. The management of the forest is certified against the Principles and Criteria. Then, to ensure that this is the same timber which reaches the shop for the consumer to buy, the transport of the timber from the forest through the processing is also tracked. Products from mixed sources can be certified as controlled wood.

FSC tissuesThe inspection of the forest management unit is related to the Forest Management (FM) certificate; the chain of custody (CoC) is the certificate which tracks the timber through processing.

In order for a Certification Body to carry out FSC certification audits, it must be accredited by FSC. A list of current Certifying Bodies working globally is available on the Accreditation Service International (of FSC International) website.
